In the constantly evolving world of autonomous driving, reliably guaranteeing automated driving functions is essential. A 360-degree perception of the surroundings is the basic prerequisite for this. Sophisticated sensors and imaging processes generate a realistic image of the surroundings, which is why vehicles are equipped with an arsenal of cameras as well as radar and lidar sensors that must always be clean.

A central aspect of these technologies are cleaning systems that serve to keep the vehicle’s cameras and sensors in pristine condition. Without clean cameras and sensors, autonomous driving is at risk of being compromised.

Various environmental influences such as dirt, road salt, mud and snow can contaminate the sensors. A dirty sensor is not able to take reliable measurements and therefore represents a potential hazard.
