Aiming high with RAPA

The Walter-Gropius-Gymnasium lets the balloons rise!

Traditions are important. The Selb Heimat- und Wiesenfest is the highlight of the summer in the region. One of the highlights is the procession through the streets of Selb – in addition to music and marching bands, students from elementary school to high school wave flags and parade through town in colorful costumes. The festival was canceled for the second time. The high school students of the Walter-Gropius-Gymnasium quickly transformed their break yard into a small version of the Goldberg.

Balloon rising for the Selber Wiesenfest – a nice tradition even in Corona times
The preparations at the WGG Selb are in full swing

And today was the day: Around 600 students sent the balloons on their journey after a VIT VAT HOCH – a colorful sky could be seen. The action takes the place of the traditional balloon rise after the procession to the market place. Hereby, despite Corona, a great sign was set for the Selber Heimat- und Wiesenfest.

Anke Saalfrank, student councilor and head of the campaign was happy to receive a donation of 200, – Euro from RAPA on behalf of the Walter-Gropius-Gymnasium.

We think that was great and we are looking forward to celebrating together again next year at the Goldberg!
