Assembly Operators 3rd Shift (4/10 Schedule M - TH)

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs machine operations to support the assembly of parts following posted work instructions.
  2. Responsible to ensure accuracy of their own work according to work instructions and monitor the quality of the product.
  3. Detects and reports defective and/or questionable product conditions to the department supervisor.
  4. Detects and reports any unsafe conditions to the department supervisor and/or Environmental, Health & Safety Leader.
  5. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  6. Responsible for workplace safety and adhere to all plant safety rules.
  7. Work with others in the team to maximize efficiency and reduce scrap/downtime on the production line.
  8. Other duties may be assigned for example but not limited to scrap breakdown/disposal, repacking and 5s (organization).
  9. Over time as required.
  10. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  2. High school diploma or GED
  3. Effective communication, written and verbal skills
  4. Regular and Predictable attendance.
  5. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  6. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
  7. Stand and work on a production floor for extended periods of time in a factory setting.
  8. Visually inspect products, work stations, colored operating and warning lights.
  9. Hear approaching production floor forklifts and warning alarms.
  10. Safely walk across production floors with uneven surfaces or other obstructions.
  11. Fine hand manipulation required to pick up parts and equipment as required for a particular production or inspection operation.

Manufacturing Engineer

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate technical adeptness in the area of manufacturing processes, and a willingness to learn the existing manufacturing processes and equipment, and the associated operation and maintenance.
  2. Coordinate with project team and manage/lead the development of new processes/production lines to ensure a timely and efficient handover of new product and process launches to series production.
  3. Establish relationships with European colleagues in project teams and with counterparts in order to share knowledge and standardize processes.
  4. Work with industrial engineering to design process improvements for existing manufacturing processes
  5. Design, create prints and 3D models, quote, manage installation, and release to production new stations and fixtures for new products developed for existing assembly lines.
  6. Manage and develop the production of assembly prototypes based on specs provided
  7. Work with R&D to quickly prepare cost, labor, and cycle time estimations for new assembly production lines and processes to ensure a rapid response to RFQs from potential customers.
  8. Design and develop process/equipment drafts and specifications in coordination with German counterparts. Use these specifications to find and manage machine builders in accordance with project timelines.
  9. Create and manage capital invest spending while adhering to project and management budget targets.
  10. Assure product and process quality by developing testing methods, creating the initial standardized work and machine adjustment instructions, and creating the initial PFMEAs
  11. Assist the Testing and Controls department in the design, quoting, and building of test equipment.
  12. Assist the quality department in the creation of new Control plans for new projects and equipment.
  13. Perform equipment commissioning, pre-acceptances (at machine builder), and final acceptances for new equipment and production lines.
  14. Performing process/gage capabilities and performing gage R&Rs both with MS Excel and various other statistical software to ensure that process and testing equipment meets the criteria for acceptance.
  15. Calculate and provide values for machine uptimes; labor, material, and scrap costs; and production rate information in order to establish benchmarks for continuous improvement activities and for tracking new projects.
  16. Collect, analyze, and evaluate information and trends and have the ability to interpret the information into a beneficial summary, report, or metric.
  17. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  18. Manage, dictate, and control all initial necessary documentation associated with new machines;
  19. Maintains and utilizes process data from the various assembly processes and be able to analyze said data when necessary.
  20. Willingness to learn and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and attending training on the various manufacturing processes and procedures.
  21. Perform Process Audits in accordance with VDA, IATF, and ISO standards.
  22. Assist maintenance and industrial engineering on troubleshooting machine/process issues when required.
  23. Own individual work and personal performance.
  24. Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from accredited institution
  2. Four to Eight (8) years of experience in the field of industrial, process and automation engineering. Intern and/or co-op experience a plus.
  3. Working knowledge of electrical, controls, and programming is a plus.
  4. Ability to hold a passport and travel within Germany without accompaniment
  5. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  6. Some knowledge of the German language and customs are a plus
  7. Strong CAD and 3D modeling skill. Creo experience is a plus.
  8. Microsoft Office, Minitab, or other production software experience

Industrial Engineer

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate technical adeptness in the area of manufacturing processes, and a willingness to learn the existing manufacturing processes and equipment, and the associated operation and maintenance.
  2. Coordinate with project team and process development engineers to ensure a timely and efficient handover of new product and process launches to series production.
  3. Establish relationships with European colleagues and exchange information about products, processes and customer requirements
  4. Develop process improvement and analysis mechanisms to improve existing manufacturing processes
  5. Work with equipment and materials manufacturers as necessary to ensure proper operation and improvement of the equipment and processes to meet stated production and quality goals
  6. Assist in the production of assembly prototypes based on the manufacturing process and specs provided
  7. Assure product and process quality by performing and developing testing methods, creating and upkeeping standardized work and machine adjustment instructions, and maintaining existing PFMEAs
  8. Ensure the reliability of manufacturing and testing processes by performing process/gage capabilities and performing gage R&Rs both with MS Excel and various other statistical software
  9. Calculate and provide values for machine uptimes; labor, material, and scrap costs; and production rate information in order to establish benchmarks for continuous improvement activities and monitor production.

Controls Engineer

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate technical adeptness in the area of manufacturing processes, and a willingness to learn about R & D, manufacturing equipment, and operation.
  2. Excellent problem solving skills and take accountability for process control system programming, and design for all computer controlled machinery and processes. Will work with multi-discipline teams, troubleshoot operational problems, develop process control strategies and provide training.
  3. Participate as a process control lead in project leadership meetings to set project goals, priorities and strategies.
  4. Lead the process control unit operation by developing the overall process control strategy for the project. Develop the overall communication strategy between process interfaces, logic controllers, drives and data collection system.
  5. Interact with equipment and vendors to facilitate process control integration. Communicate progress and plans to other team leads. Work with other team leads to negotiate conflicts.
  6. Lead the development of all process and machine control design including control network architecture; wiring diagrams, control schemes, plc and control interface equipment.
  7. Lead the checkout effort. Develop a checkout plan including resources. Communicate the plan to all involved such as contractors, plant electricians, engineers, designers, plant technicians.
  8. Manage capital projects that focus on process control integration or upgrades.
  9. Responsible for cost estimations for hardware, software, and all test benches.
  10. Planning and selection of safety components.
  11. Creation of measurement reports for switchgear and equipment according to DIN standards, including MSA’s for all test benches.
  12. Responsible for defining test components, measurement technology, and test plans.
  13. Commissioning of test benches and production lines as required.
  14. Supervision of special machine builders and external service providers.
  15. Own individual work and personal performance.

Skills, Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited institution
  2. At least 4 years of experience in the field of production processes, automotive industry or product testing
  3. Programming experience in one high-level programming language (C++/Java/Visual Basic/Ruby/Python). Strong working knowledge of Beckhoff TwinCat 2 PLC and Drive technology knowledge (Beckhoff Dives ideal). LabView knowledge. Good Vision Systems experience (COGNEX Vision Systems) and Microsoft Office.
  4. Ability to hold a passport and travel within Germany without accompaniment
  5. Ability to manage and motivate the process control team, resolving issues, scheduling and coordinating work among the team.
  6. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  7. Expected to proactively solve potential problems before they occur throughout the course of the project including design, specification, construction, checkout and start up.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leader

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. This position is responsible for leading the development, implementation, auditing, monitoring and accountability efforts of all EH&S policies and procedures directly associated with the manufacturing processes, waste generation, energy consumption and associate safety expectations mandated by federal organizations such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA and ANSI, as well as those required by RAPA’s insurance loss control specialists.
  2. Function as the ISO14001 Management representative (manage the EMS) including acting as the waste management officer.
  3. Review and update ADEM/EPA permits as needed (storm water, air, SPCC, etc.).
  4. This position will also research, develop and provide training methods to provide associates with the necessary required training within the time frame mandated by aforementioned federal agencies.
  5. Manage the plant’s health/safety/ergonomics programs so as to assist RAPA Executive Leadership in providing as safe a working environment as possible for all RAPA associates.
  6. Assist in developing, revising, training, administering, and executing the plant level and corporate safety policies and procedures.
  7. Accurately complete and submit state and federal safety and workers’ compensation reports on a timely basis.
  8. Provide and or coordinate all necessary EHS training and development to entire workforce.
  9. Schedule and manage external and internal health and safety system audits.
  10. Maintain OSHA-300 log, first aid log and worker’s compensation employee post incident files.
  11. Prepare, practice and be capable of representing RAPA LP in the event of an OSHA audit.
  12. Administer, audit and revise the plant workers’ compensation program as needed.
  13. Lead plant ISO-14001 team and recycling efforts.
  14. Accurately complete and submit state and federal environmental reports on time.
  15. Develop and implement programs to assist in the minimization of RAPA’s impact on the environment.
  16. Provide and or coordinate any necessary environmental related training for all RAPA associates.
  17. Schedule and manage external and internal ISO-14001 system audits.
  18. Manage record keeping activities for audits, meeting minutes, training, etc.
  19. Make an annual (or more frequent) report on the status of both the Safety Management Process and Environmental Management System as required by the standard.
  20. Connect with local/regional professional safety groups and experts to gain new information and share knowledge.
  21. Take the lead in administering the RAPA LP workers’ compensation program from including injury reporting, coordination with the work comp insurer, case managers, doctors and attorneys.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Experience

  1. A 4-year degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  2. Five (5) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA standards, worker’s compensation law, basic employment and labor laws. Well developed verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to interact with all levels of management, salary and hourly compensated associates.
  4. OSHA Compliance, 30-Hour Certification card or certificate a plus.
  5. Hazardous Material Management (HAZWOPER) training a plus.
  6. Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  7. Solid computer skills with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
  8. Ability and willingness to make presentations to small and large groups of salary and or hourly associates.
