Meet our Team

Meet today our Key Account Manager Huang Liang.

Currently, electric vehicles and “autonomous driving” are being pushed extremely hard by the Chinese government in order to achieve the country’s climate policy goals. RAPA identified China early on as an extremely attractive market for its automotive chassis components and has therefore established a local subsidiary in China. The local RAPA office is the first step with which RAPA will further expand existing activities in the Middle Kingdom; because in China in particular, great value is placed on proximity, the fastest response times and local contacts. The office in the heart of Shanghai could not be better chosen. Thus, Liang Huang has been supporting the global RAPA sales team in the Chinese branch since October 2020. As Key Account Manager, he is responsible for looking after the most important customers. His tasks also include new customer business to further promote the product portfolio in the Chinese market. Liang has already been working for nine years as an application engineer and key account manager in the automotive industry, including with potential target customers in the core market of China.

Liang,  what is the most important thing for you to win Chinese customers?

As a century-old company in the field of automotive valves, RAPA can provide customers with innovative technology and high-quality products at competitive costs.

What has your team achieved so far?

In the Chinese automotive market, we have secured air suspension projects for OEMs including Geely Volvo. In addition, with the rapid development of electric vehicles in China, we have also entered into successful collaborations with new energy brands such as NIO, Xpeng and Li Auto.

What do you see as the challenges for the coming years?

For RAPA Automotive, the China business has started well. Still, the question “Who is RAPA?” keeps coming up in sales calls. Therefore, the long-term goal is to build the brand and increase awareness. Regardless of this, flexibility and a short time-to-market in the competitive environment would be a crucial success factor.

What do you like to do in your free time?

After work, I often go to the gym or listen to music while walking. In my free time, I prefer to spend time with my child and my family. So on weekends we often visit an amusement park. On vacation I like to travel abroad with my child and my family. This year we will probably not go abroad because of the pandemic. Therefore, this year only the southern Chinese island of Hainan comes into question as a vacation destination for us. It is China’s tropical vacation paradise and known as the “Hawaii of the East”.
