Senior Product Engineer (m/f/x)

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products. Improves upon the performance and design of existing products.
- Design, model, and test prototypes for products.
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases, elements and reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
- Controls project costs by approving expenditures.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Establish design briefs.
- Produce final drawings and specifications.
- Create parts lists.
- Make samples of working models for demonstration.
- Improve usability of an item.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education and Experience
- 6+ years product engineering/design experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Bachelors in relevant engineering field. Masters preferred.
- Technical/mechanical aptitude with mechatronics experience and advanced knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks.
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts and simulation software for structure, system, magnetic circuit or flow simulation is preferred.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and handle multiple projects and assignments with proficiency.
- Management experience is not required.
- Ability to travel as required up to 15%.
