From the RAPA Excellence Award to Training at RAPA

A few years ago, Nele Buhl received the RAPA Excellence Award. Today, she is a freight forwarding clerk trainee at RAPA.

For many years, RAPA has been honoring students with the RAPA Excellence Award for outstanding academic achievements. The award is an integral part of the Selb State Secondary School’s graduation ceremony and recognizes the top students in each group of elective subjects.

In this interview, Nele looks back on the award ceremony. She explains how her school internship influenced her career choice, why she decided to pursue an apprenticeship at RAPA, and what her experience has been like starting her career today.

Why does RAPA present the Award for Excellence?

Why awards are important for students and what significance the RAPA Excellence Award holds from the school's perspective.

A special moment

Nele still remembers the awards ceremony well.

“It was at our graduation ceremony. No one knew beforehand who would receive the award. So it was a real surprise when my name was called. I went up on stage and accepted the award—that was a special moment.”

Even today, she associates positive memories with the award.

“I was really happy about it. Finishing high school with an award like that was just a wonderful feeling.”

The Road to RAPA

Her connection with RAPA began during a school internship in 8th grade. Later , she learned more about the apprenticeship opportunities at a career fair. “I knew even back then that I’d like to do my apprenticeship here.”
Since she had decided early on to pursue a career in business, she chose to train as a freight forwarding clerk.
“I really enjoyed the tasks during my internship and could easily imagine working here later on.”

Starting Her Career

Today, Nele is involved in day-to-day operations from the very start and is getting to know various areas of responsibility.
“I don’t regret my decision at all. By the end of the first one or two months, at the latest, I knew it was the right decision.”
She particularly appreciates the variety of tasks. “I’m constantly learning new tasks and gaining a lot of experience as a result.”

In closing, she offers some advice to this year’s and future award recipients.

“Be proud of your achievements and enjoy the moment.”
